Cat Behavior Change - Using Behavior Modification

Whether you are litter training a cat, toilet training cats, or you want to know how to stop a cat from biting, the most important cat training aide you can use is behavior modification.

While your cat is learning, he will backside. No cat gets everything right the first time and just like humans, cats make mistakes. That's where behavior modification comes in.

Behavior modification is simply a fancy term for a training method or training process where rewards and appropriate punishments are used to get rid of old inappropriate behaviors and reinforce new correct behaviors. In other words, when your feline buddy behaves correctly, you can give him a treat, a praise, or a pet. When he backslides, perhaps a loud "NO" will suffice or a squirt form a water bottle.

Never under any circumstances hit your cat or you will defeat the very reason your training him. You'll simply teach your cat to fear you and your chances of success will be next to none.
